Lynx bus service will be suspended

Part of Carbon County’s Community Transit system will be suspended beginning Thursday as part of an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The Carbon County Commissioners posted Monday night that LANTA is temporarily suspending Lynx bus service in the county.

“Based on the latest guidance from the governor’s office, along with the drop in ridership on the route, it was decided to suspend service on CCCT’s fixed-route Lynx bus starting Thursday and until further notice,” Owen P. O’Neil, executive director of LANTA, said.

Service on the fixed route will continue through the end of business day on Wednesday.

The shared ride paratransit services will continue to operate during this time, but O’Neil said riders are being asked to restrict trips to dialysis, work, the pharmacy or grocery stores.

Carbon County and LANTA recently announced they were delaying a rate increase on the shared ride program until April to see if options could be found to help seniors who use the service cover the additional cost.

Many seniors in the county depend on Carbon County Community Transit’s services to get to doctors’ appointments, stores and other locations around the county.
