The West Penn Township Fire Company No. 1 sponsored a poster contest for fifth grade students at West Penn Elementary School for the recent Fire Prevention Week. The winners, from left, are Scarlett Hannis, third place; Kalli Weinert, second place; and Adalyn Labiosa, first place. The theme was “Charge Into Fire Safety.” Each of the three received a surprise ride to school in a firetruck, along with four all-day passes to Knoebel’s Amusement Resort. The passes were sponsored by donations from Fegley Oil in South Tamaqua, Mark T. Boyle Welding and Jason Lorah Construction. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
