A car wash entrenched in the Lehighton community is in the midst of a knockdown, with plans for the rebuild to be completed around Christmas.

Demolition of the car wash, at 659 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive E., began about three weeks ago, according to Hometown Auto Spa owner Jonathan Ammary.

Ammary, who has owned the car wash for four years, and owns two other car washes in Whitehall, said the Lehighton business will look to mimic the model that’s used at those locations.

He said there will be three automatic bays, with a limited wait time.

Ammary said customers will be able to choose from either a soft touch (with brushes) or touchless car wash service.

He said there will also be an indoor self-serve pet wash, with floor mat cleaning station and vacuums.

Ammary explained it will be a 24-hour service, and will include membership options in which customers will be able to use any of the functions on the property 24/7.

There will be no self-service car wash offered, he said.

Ammary explained the reason the car wash is being rebuilt.

“Outdated equipment, it needed to be updated,” Ammary said. “The hours were limited.”

Ammary said the goal is for the car wash to be up and running by Christmas.

As part of that, he said they will offer $1 car washes as a promotion during the grand opening.

“With the heavy traffic count, there’s definitely a need for the car wash,” he said. “We’re looking to expand from here down to the Lehigh Valley area.”

Originally from Whitehall, Ammary is married to Shelby Ammary, who was born and raised in Lehighton where she graduated from high school.

Formerly Fedor’s Car wash, the business had been owned by Gary and Sandi Fedor.

The couple announced in April 2022 they had agreed to sell the car wash to Ammary.

Gary said they bought the car wash in 1986, and did a complete remodeling in 1993.
