The Pennsylvania State Police Troop M – Major Case Team is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Saturday.

At 11:03 a.m., Troopers from PSP Bethlehem were dispatched to the 2800 block of Rockdale Road, North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, for the report of a disturbance involving a man with a gun.

Troopers saw a 27-year-old man from North Whitehall Township, whose name was not released. He was seated in the driver’s seat of 2009 Toyota Camry, parked in the driveway of the residence with a handgun in his possession.

While on scene, Troopers established a perimeter around the vehicle and attempted to make contact with the man to peacefully exit the vehicle. During this time, the man discharged the gun from the car, more than once, and also pointed the gun at troopers multiple times.

The Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team arrived on scene and attempted to negotiate a peaceful resolution with the man. Police said at approximately 2 p.m., the man discharged his gun from the vehicle and a SERT member shot him.

The man was treated at the scene by Northern Valley EMS who transported him to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest for his injuries. His condition was not released. The were no injuries to law enforcement.

This investigation is being conducted by the PSP Troop M Major Case Team with the assistance of the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
