May 24, 1961 - Jim Thorpe holds off a late Summit Hill rally to gain a 6-4 Black Diamond League victory. The Olympians’ Terry Watto pitches six shutout innings before the Hillers come to life in the seventh. After getting to Watto for four runs, Joe Hydro relieves and retires the side to preserve the win. Jimmy Brogan collects two hits and scores two runs for Thorpe, coached by Kenny Kline. Ned Reabold adds a pair of hits, a run and an RBI, while Watto helps his own cause with a hit, a run and an RBI. For the Hillers, Harry Miller and Bill Leichleitner both finish with a hit and an RBI.
