Walnutport reviews Airbnb ordinance

Walnutport may update its antiquated Airbnb ordinance.

Borough solicitor Michael Corriere briefly discussed the matter with borough council on Thursday.

Corriere told council that he finished a draft for the Airbnb ordinance.

“You had one from the early ’80s,” Corriere said. “Airbnb uses have changed.”

Corriere suggested to council that it review the ordinance so that it may be discussed at next month’s meeting.

“Your ordinance does provide for use in two of four residential districts,” he said.

However, borough engineer Jason Newhard said that there is a limit on short-term rentals, so theoretically, an Airbnb is not allowed.
