September 7, 1962 - Mike Panchura runs for a touchdown and throws another to help Coaldale open its season with a 20-14 victory over Tunkhannock. The Tigers lead 6-0 heading into the final quarter on the strength of a 1-yard scoring run by Bill Edwards. The drive starts after Cal Herring recovers a fumble. Both teams register two touchdowns in the final frame with Panchura connecting with Ed Kassak on a 35-yarder pass on a fourth down. After allowing a touchdown, Panchura breaks free for a 57-yard score that proves to be the game-winner.
