Lehigh planning commission is victim of counterfeiting

The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission, Allentown, is the victim of a $16,666.67 forgery/counterfeiting incident that was reported to state police at the Bethlehem barracks at 12:41 a.m. June 30.

Police said the business on Marcon Boulevard in Hanover Township received a call from someone identifying himself as a Michael Porter, who related he was advised by his bank to contact the commission in regards to a check that was deposited in his account.

Police said a commission representative, upon checking its account, discovered a check sent June 13 to Lincoln Leadership, in that account, had been altered to be delivered to a Shantra Thompson in Florida.

Police said the commission has opened a dispute in the incident and a Michael Porter has not been located.
