Jeep Fest to help local organizations

It’s like a party with a purpose.

Colossal Radio will hold its second annual Jeep Fest from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 3 at The Hofford Mill in Weissport. The rain date is Sept. 10.

Layne “Doc” Roberts, owner of Colossal Radio in Palmerton, said the proceeds raised from the event will go toward the Lehighton Fire Department, as well as veterans from the Valor Clinic.

Roberts said there will also be a 50/50 drawing on behalf of Colossal Radio and Bronson EBikes & Trikes, Inc., which will benefit the Jim Thorpe Police Department and the Lehighton Fire Department.

“We’re reaching out to different municipalities,” Roberts said. “We are trying to build this up to benefit the communities.”

Roberts said more than 100 jeeps are expected as part of the event.

“It’s a day for people to come out and take in some great music,” he said. “It’s a family-friendly atmosphere.”

Roberts said there will plenty of entertainment, including Two of a Kind which will perform at 11 a.m., Chris Wentz & The Band Blunt at noon; Burn The Jukebox at 1:30 p.m., and The Boys of Psych at 3:30 p.m.

He thanked the event’s sponsors, which include Zimmerman’s Dairy of Lehighton, Rapa Law Office of Lehighton, TNT Automotive of Lehighton, Blocker Enterprises of Lehighton, Bronson EBike, Snyders Trailside Designs of Kunkletown (which will be bringing its Flex Ramp), Mystic Mountaintop Productions (which will be doing the staging and sound), 717 Shirt Shop. He also thanked The Hofford Mill & Gorge Eatery, where the event will be held.

Roberts said Blocker Enterprises will be raffling off an eBike, with proceeds benefiting the Lehighton Fire Department and veterans at Valor.

Tickets may be ordered through colossalradio.rocks. The deadline to purchase tickets is midnight Sept. 1.

Last year’s event had 110 jeeps participate, and raised $2,600 to benefit veterans and volunteers.
