Teenager admits putting needles in food

A teenager admitted to putting sewing needles in food at a Lehigh County Giant, according to county District Attorney Jim Martin on Friday.

The teen, a former employee, was charged with inserting the needles into various food items.

On April 19, state police were called to the Giant at 7150 Hamilton Blvd. for a report of food tampering.

An investigation revealed the teen put needles in various food items. There were no known injuries to customers.

On April 24, the teen was charged with three counts each of recklessly endangering another person, a misdemeanor, and one count of criminal mischief, a summary.

The teen appeared Thursday in juvenile court and admitted to the allegations, according to Martin.

The matter was handled in juvenile court.
