Rep. Jack Rader, R-Monroe, announced the awarding of nearly $2.5 million in state funding for a variety of community improvements in the 176th Legislative District and Monroe County.

“The projects and purchases supported through these grants are going to benefit our local communities in a variety of ways,” Rader said. “From infrastructure upgrades and building renovations to new emergency vehicles and recreational facilities, the quality of life in our area is being enhanced, which is exactly what this funding is supposed to do.”

The local grants include:

• Brodhead Creek Regional Authority – $400,000 to construct a water storage tank in Pocono Township.

• Chestnuthill Township – $308,514 to replace culverts under Silver Valley Road.

• Clymer Library in Tobyhanna Township – $14,775 to make computer upgrades.

• East Stroudsburg University Foundation – $375,000 to purchase bleachers and scoreboard for a new soccer facility at East Stroudsburg University.

• Eldred Township – $161,700 to purchase a backup generator for the municipal building.

• Eldred Township Historical Society – $23,625 to convert the old Kunkletown Post Office into its headquarters building.

• Hamilton Township – $60,000 to repair the pedestrian bridge at the historic Old Mill.

• Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company – $42,300 to purchase new rescue tools.

• Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority – $98,369 to purchase a new police vehicle and a new van.

• Pocono Mountain Regional Emergency Medical Services – $175,000 to purchase a new ambulance.

• Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department – $79,500 to purchase a new police cruiser.

• Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company – $53,826 to purchase rescue equipment.

• Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm in Hamilton Township – $297,185 to rehabilitate the barn and livestock area.

• Ross Township – $159,629 to purchase a new mower.

• Suburban Emergency Medical Services – $100,000 to purchase a new ambulance.

• West End Food Pantry in Kunkletown – $129,947 for renovations and equipment purchases.

The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
