There will be a contested school board director race come November in Tamaqua Area School District based on unofficial results posted Tuesday.

In a race for Tamaqua’s five available director seats, all which carry a four-year term, Trina Schellhammer, Melanie Dillman, Thomas Bartasavage Jr., Daniel Schoener, Larry Wittig and Jessica Tirpak all appear to have advanced past the primary.

On the Republican ticket, Bartasavage Jr. led the way with 1,402 votes, followed by Schellhammer with 1,387, Schoener with 1,282, Wittig with 1,271 and Dillman with 1,263.

Schellhammer led the way on the Democrat ticket with 266 votes, followed by Dillman with 248, Bartasavage Jr. with 222, Schoener with 216 and Tirpak with 208.
