State Police at Lehighton - crashes

State police at Lehighton reported the following crashes.

• No one was hurt in a crash at 3:22 p.m. March 6 at the intersection of a private driveway and Stagecoach Road in Towamensing Township.

Police said it happened when Doris V. Murphy, 85, of Palmerton, driving a 2011 GMC Terrain, attempted to pull out of her driveway and struck a 2010 Subaru Impreza driven westbound by James L. Connelly, 79, also of Palmerton.

Police said the Subaru was able to be driven from the scene while the Terrain was disabled in the woman’s driveway.

• Maribel Colon, 56, of Kunkletown, was transported by emergency personnel from the scene of a one-vehicle crash in Polk Township.

Police said she was driving a 2022 Subaru Crosstrek south on Long Mountain Road when she lost control of it. The vehicle crossed the double yellow lines, left the road and struck an embankment. Police said it then continued forward, striking a tree, and after impact with the tree struck a utility pole before coming to a halt.

The car sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

• Michael W. Burns, 26, of Kunkletown, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:48 p.m. March 18 on Dotter’s Corner Road in Polk Township.

Police said he was transported by West End Community Ambulance personnel to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg.

Police said he was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 southbound when it went off the eastern shoulder of the road and struck three trees and an embankment. Police said he was driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, and he was charged.

• A 17-year-old Bowmanstown boy, driving on Spruce Road in Lower Towamensing Township, avoided a deer that entered the path of his vehicle but went off the road and struck a tree. He was uninjured.

He was driving a 2015 Ford Focus at 8:06 p.m. March 18. The vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.

• Liana D. Vizcaino, 21, of Hatfield, escaped injuries when a car she was driving went out of control and crashed, rolling over, at 4:30 p.m. March 29 in Hideaway Hill Road in Polk Township.

Police said she was operating a 2004 Nissan Altima northbound when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The car rolled over in the front yard at 1092 Hideaway Hill Road and landed upright.

It sustained disabling damaged and was towed from the scene, Police said.
