State police at Lehighton

State police at Lehighton reported the following cases.

• A 58-year-old Palmerton man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after they responded to a one-vehicle crash with injuries at 9:51 p.m. March 23.

It happened at the Palmerton exit of Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township when the man was driving a 2016 Buick Envision.

• A 49-year-old Palmerton man was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, after a traffic stop at 6:40 p.m. March 9.

Police said they stopped the man for a vehicle code violation at the intersection of Hahn’s Dairy and Forest Inn roads in Lower Towamensing Township, after which time he was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

In addition to the drug possession charges, he was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

• Justin A. Virga, 22, of Yonkers, New York, was cited after a crash at 8:12 p.m. March 10 on Hatchery Road in Penn Forest Township.

Police said he was driving a 2020 Volkswagen Jetta west when he lost control on a curve in the road which was covered in accumulating snow. The car traveled off the road and struck a steel pole in front of 30 Hatchery Road with its left front bumper.

Virga was uninjured. Police said the car sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
