Storm warning for heavy snow tonight-Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from 6 p.m. today to 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Heavy snow expected, with snow accumulations of 12 to 18 inches with higher amounts in higher elevations, and winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Today: Rain, possibly mixed with snow, becoming all rain after noon. High near 39. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tonight: Rain before 10 p.m., then rain and snow between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., then snow after 2 a.m. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 30. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Tuesday: Snow before 2 p.m., then rain and snow likely. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 36. Breezy, with a northwest wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: Snow likely, mainly before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Windy, with a northwest wind 25 to 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Breezy, with a northwest wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.
