Exciting things coming from Weatherly High School this week. We would like to congratulate Ian McLaurin on hitting his one hundredth point this basketball season. keep up the good work! Service activities happening this week include the Kindness Club holding a food drive for families in need. Interact Club is also holding a bake sale to raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We thank you for your contributions and support, Wreckers!

Panther Valley

Athletics

The Panther Valley boys basketball team, with a record of 8-4, will play at Blue Mountain on Tuesday, and North Schuylkill at home on Friday.

With new coaches and talented players, the Panther Valley girls basketball team has a noticeably improved record from previous years, with 8 wins and 5 losses. The girls are scheduled to play at Blue Mountain on Monday, at home versus Mahanoy on Wednesday, and lastly they will take on the Spartans at North Schuylkill on Thursday. Girls basketball player, Morgan Orsulak, was selected for Times News Female Athlete of the Week for her impressive stats as a freshman.

Students who received honor or distinguished honor roll will be rewarded with an honor’s lunch for their high scoring grades during the second quarter.

For the first time in school history, Panther Valley is starting an after-school History Club for those who love looking deeper into the past. The newspaper staff has submitted all articles for this year’s second issue, and is awaiting publication. Lehighton

The wrestling team has been named Schuylkill League champions after last Saturday’s league meet, with Reese Balk and Aiden Gruber taking first place in their weight classes.

The competitive cheerleading team took first place in districts in the AA division.

FBLA will begin selling tickets for its bingo starting next week. It’s a cash prize bingo with a 50/50 and bake sale. The event will be held at the Mahoning Valley Ambulance Company on Saturday, Feb. 18 starting at 1 p.m.

We held a “Tribal Council” meeting with most of our clubs to keep communication and stay updated. It’s the second time we met and members from any club are invited to future meetings.

Friday was the last day of the first semester, so starting Monday students’ schedules will change. Wish our students good luck in their new classes.

CCTI

Congratulations to Ms. Kowalcyk and her reporters for “The Buzz,” which is the CCTI newspaper. The first edition was released and an excellent job was done by all.

Reporters are: Ash Little, Brody Owens, Marissa Blasko, Dorissa Koehler, Dakota Trach and Isabel Wentz.

Cosmetology will have clinical services every Monday in the afternoon for spa activities and alternating Thursdays and Fridays for all hair services. You can check the CCTI website for all dates, times and services.

Lehigh Valley Hospital will be hosting a vaping presentation for all students on Tuesday.
