Man who died in plane crash from Easton

The Lehigh County Coroner’s office identified the man who died in Wednesday’s plane crash in Salisbury Township as Keith Kozel, 49, of Easton.

The coroner’s office released the identification after an autopsy on Friday. The cause of death was multiple injuries because of the crash. The coroner’s office said it used dental records and circumstantial evidence to identify Kozel.

The plane, with Kozel and another person in it, went down in the yard of a house at 1480 Keystone Road in the township around 1:30 p.m.

Kozel was dead at the scene, but visual identification could not be made at the time because of the severity of injuries.

The other person in the plane was taken to a Lehigh Valley hospital with severe injuries.

In addition to the coroner’s office, Kozel’s death is being investigated by the Salisbury Township Police Department, with assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
