September 7, 1956 - Marian’s defense shuts down McAdoo and also registers the game’s only touchdown in a 6-0 season-opening victory. The Colts, coached by Hugh “Wink” Gallagher, hold their opponent to just 62 yards of offense, including an 0-for-7 effort in the passing game. John Piovane scoops up a fumble and races 38 yards in the first quarter for what proves to be the winning tally. Piovane later recovers another loose ball, while Marian also blocks a punt on special teams.
