Maryland man charged with falsifying timesheets

A Maryland man who was working for a company that provided staffing for the Brookmont Health Care Center, 510 Brookmont Drive, Chestnuthill Township, because of a shortage of employees there, has been arrested by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks in charges that he misrepresented the hours he worked at the facility and illegally received $12,245.24 in overpayments.

Russell A. Cosby, 53, of District Heights, who was employed by Aplus Staffing, a firm that outsources employees, is charged with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception and receiving stolen property. The charges are filed in the office of Magisterial District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.

In an affidavit of probable cause, Trooper Richard Weinstock said on Feb. 17, Trooper Edward Roll was dispatched to the center to meet Human Resources Director Kimberly Evetushick concerning two abnormally large bills the firm had received from Aplus Staffing relating two employees, Cosby and a Lauretta Nkem Ofulue. They began working at Brookmont on Oct. 12, 2021, and stopped working there on Dec. 16, 2021, the affidavit states.

Police said the HR director pointed out handwritten timesheet information submitted by the two employees did not match the key fob times they worked. Following a review of the documentation, Tiffany Binder, Human Resource manager for Aplus Staffing, told police Cosby falsified timesheets for the above-stated period. The affidavit does not address Ofulue’s role in the incident, nor does it indicate whether or not she was charged.
