Palmerton teen wins ribbons at international equestrian competition

A Palmerton teen has captured ribbons in the Wellington International Venue, held Jan. 1 through April 2, with the equestrians from all over the world competing.

Elliena Apollo, 13, competing with three mounts, two being green 5-year-old horses that were started at Apollo Farms. She won 18 first place ribbons, three champions, two reserves, and a circuit champion.

It was her first show where she competed with horses as well as ponies.

Elliena was the only junior competitor in the division she rode with her mount “Apollo’s Gold.”

It was the USHJA 2”6 first year shown, which consisted of the nation’s top hunter adult riders and their young horses.

Overall they placed fourth out of 53 professionals for the circuit. Her biggest accomplishment was with her green pony “Royal Mint Julip,” Elliena and her Mom broke the pony and stared her from scratch.

Her first time ever showing was at the 2022 Winter Equestrian Festival. Marking its 10th anniversary in Wellington, the 2022 WEF Sport Horse Auction presents a rare opportunity for athletes and investors to view and bid on a world-class selection of show jumping superstars, all in one place.

Elliena secured her position of Circuit Champion for 2022 in their division.

Elliena keeps topping herself at every show and taking on new challenges. Her goal is to be a one of the nation’s top Hunter Riders.

Training with her mom, Delia Apollo, and Olympic Medalist Nona Garson, Elliena has been able to keep learning and developing her style.
