Tamaqua man pleads guilty in threats case

A Tamaqua man pleaded guilty to terroristic threats recently in Schuylkill County Court and was sentenced to time served.

Kyle Frantz, 28, pleaded guilty to terroristic threats but prosecutors withdrew a charge of harassment for a May 26 incident in the borough.

Common Pleas Judge Charles Miller was sentenced to time served to 12 months but was granted immediate parole. Frantz is required to pay costs of prosecution and other fees, a DNA fee among them.

Tamaqua Police Chief Michael Hobbs charged Frantz with the offenses after a woman told police Frantz would slit her throat while she was at the Turkey Hill. She grabbed a bat in the vehicle and told him he would do no such thing. She said Frantz kept saying he will end her life. This is not the first time he told the victim he would harm her, having said previously he would get a gun and do so, the affidavit of probable cause reads.
