A public meeting with residents to discuss plans for door-to-door canvassing and an income survey will be held next month in Parryville.
Borough council announced last week that the new income survey is in response to the costs of the sewage proposals required by the state.
Council said the income survey must be held, as the current data is too old, and it will require a third party to go door to door in the borough.
It will require the residents to be “100% truthful,” council President Cathy Hawk said.
Councilman Dustin Wentz said the borough “shouldn’t keep pushing (this issue) off to the people elected down the line.”
Last month, borough sewage enforcement officer Andrea Martin, of Barry Isett & Associates, reviewed alternatives with council.
Martin suggested at that time the borough should have an income survey done in which only the downtown residents would be affected.
Hawk said at that time the income survey is “to kind of prove to the state that our constituents cannot afford to have an exorbitant plan or anything like that.”
She noted at that time the borough previously went house to house.
In August, several residents expressed concerns with the borough’s sewage plans.
It was noted at that time that council Vice President Jason Smith has been working with state Rep. Doyle Heffley’s office to determine funding sources.
