FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS
Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:
• Tabled the pursuit of the Christman Ballfield denial claim with attorney Frank Tamulonis until the board gets more of a price. Previously, water pipes burst, which resulted in flooding that caused a mold issue at the concession stand.
• Announced that a second public virtual hearing for use of Community Development Block Grant funds for the funding year 2021 was held on Sept. 28. The township will use $78,834 toward water improvements along Red Hill Road.
• Adopted an ordinance amending the township’s stormwater management ordinance to include a section on enforcement.
• Approved the medical loss rebate in the amount of $10,232 to be applied toward the 2021 Highmark premiums.
• Approved the waiver request for payment of recreation fees regarding Daniel Schoenberger’s lot line revision. Currently there are three lots that will be made into four lots, therefore creating a new lot, however, no new dwellings are being proposed.
• Approved the Daniel L. and Ann L. Shoenberger, & Philip E., Debra M., and Marc Edward Cinamella final lot line revision and four lot subdivision plan.
• Tabled a request from Scott Bieber on behalf of the property owner at 777 Interchange Road to grant a well distance exemption, and to waive a groundwater study needed to obtain a sewage permit to replace a malfunctioning cesspool that currently serves the property.
• Approved the request from surveyor Ron Neher with Keystone Consulting Engineers to have the township waive the review of the reverse Schneider subdivision. The property owners wold like to join their three lots; a small portion of one of the lots is located in the township, and the rest is located in Towamensing Township. The board’s approval was contingent upon them providing a final recorded plan.
• Reminded residents that trick or treat will be held from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27.
• Approved the request from Palmerton Borough to have the township fire police assist with traffic control on Nov. 25 for the Bo Tkach Turkey Trot 5K Race.
