Tamaqua library introduces new career software

More opportunities to figure out a career path are available in downtown Tamaqua.

Another resource is now at the Tamaqua Public Library with its Career Cruising Software.

“Not only is it great for identifying careers you might be interested in, or that you might have the aptitude to do, but there are assessments,” said Gayle Heath, library director.

“You can take tests to see where your interests and strengths lie. It matches you up with possible careers.”

There are many resources on the library’s new software to help figure out next steps for advanced education or a professional career.

“It’s geared for high school students to adults of any age,” Heath said.

“There is an education tab that directs you to schools that may have those careers. Not only colleges, but undergraduate and career and technical schools all across the nation. There is also a financial aid tab and an employment tab. It’s a really complete package for someone who is either looking for employment or changing the direction of their career.”

Heath said the career software was made possible through a PPL grant and also the Benevolent Association of Pottsville.

A webinar training session to learn more about the software is set for Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. Sign up at tinyurl.com/umserrnj.

“I remember being in high school, there were a lot of things that interested me, but it was tough for me to choose one path. Perhaps this will help high school students to get more information to hone in on what they want to do if they have many interests.”
