Slatington’s Heritage Day returns
After a one-year absence, Slatington’s Heritage Day is set to make its triumphant return.
The Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce has announced that the event will return at 10 a.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park.
“After being forced to cancel Heritage Day in 2020, we are happy to bring this long-held tradition back to Slatington,” said Kylie Adams, assistant vice president of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “We will be hosting the event outdoors on the morning of July 3 to ensure continuing our tradition will keep all in attendance are comfortable with such a gathering, and we are excited to resume the tradition once more.”
The event has been held in the borough for several decades, and is typically held in the Slatington Baptist Church, which will be available in case of inclement weather.
Live music from the Heritage Day Band will be provided in the park, with an invocation from the Rev. James LeVan of Slatington Baptist Church, followed by a program from presenter Kaz Kotlow, a local community leader and veteran.
“Kaz will be recognized at the event for his years of service to our country, as well as all of the brave men and women who have served from our community,” said Jessica O’Donnell, EVP of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “While we typically enjoy holding the event at Slatington Baptist, it felt very appropriate to be hosting this event in front of Slatington’s Veterans Memorial with flags flying. We look forward to a day celebrating our patriotism and kicking off the Fourth of July weekend.”
The event is free and open to the public, and those in attendance are encouraged to bring their own chair or blanket to sit comfortably within Veterans Memorial Park.
