Lehighton has been asked to consider a petition for Carbon County and all its municipalities to be listed as Second Amendment sanctuaries.

Brandon Bell, who resides in Jim Thorpe, approached Lehighton Borough Council with the petition on Monday.

“I’m asking you to consider it,” Bell said.

Bell, a military veteran, said as of that time he had 670 supporters online.

He asked to leave a sample ordinance for council to look over, as well as a petition for the ordinance.

Council did not take any action on Bell’s request.
