Friday update: 3,900 cases reported

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Friday that there were 3,987 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 888,256.

There are 2,687 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 538 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

As of 11:59 p.m. Thursday, there were 99 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 22,959 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

To date, of the 2,439,550 doses allocated through Feb. 13, Pa. administered 1,523,510 doses total through Feb. 11:

• First doses, 82 percent (1,167,402 administered of 1,426,600 allocated)

• Second doses, 35 percent (356,108 administered of 1,012,950 allocated)

There are 103,152 individuals who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 637 individuals who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.

There are 3,744,326 individuals who have tested negative to date.

In licensed nursing and personal care homes, there are 65,224 resident cases of COVID-19, and 12,648 cases among employees, for a total of 77,872 at 1,556 distinct facilities in all 67 counties. Out of total deaths reported to PA-NEDSS, 11,990 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

Local numbers

• Carbon County added 26 new cases since Thursday for a total of 4,667. One more death was reported for a total of 139.

• Lehigh County has 29,464 cases, an increase of 98 since Thursday, with four more deaths for a total of 730.

• Luzerne County has 23,882 cases, an increase of 57. There were six more deaths, bringing the total to 690.

• In Monroe County, there are 45 new cases since Thursday for a total of 9,075. One more death was reported for a total of 254.

• In Northampton County, there are 150 additional cases, for a total of 25,060. Four more deaths were reported for a total of 609.

• Schuylkill County reported 11,621 total cases, 30 new cases. One more death was reported for a total of 353.
