A Tamaqua man has been charged with assaulting a woman.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Thomas Rodgers of the Tamaqua Police Department in the case against Jason Reigel:
Rodgers was dispatched to a home in the 300 block of North Elizabeth Street for a domestic incident.
Upon entering the house, Rodgers could hear a man yelling from upstairs and a woman crying.
As Rodgers started up the stairs, he saw Reigel, 39, dragging the woman with his arm wrapped around her upper body, down the hall into a back bedroom.
The woman had redness and swelling on both sides of her face.
The woman said Reigel was accusing her of sleeping with a former co-worker and began slapping her.
She refused EMS treatment.
Reigel faces charges of simple assault and harassment.
He waived his right to a preliminary hearing Jan. 5 before District Judge Stephen J. Bayer of Tamaqua.
He is currently free on $25,000 unsecured bail, and scheduled to appear for a pretrial status conference in the Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas.
