Slatington employees install new signs

Borough employees are also busy installing new parking signs at the parking lots, and historic light poles in Memorial Park.

Three new parking signs and some directional signs were purchased for about $1,900. Council member David Schnaars told the council at their meeting Monday night that two of the parking signs have been installed at the lot on John Freed Way and the parking lot on the 600 block.

The other sign will be installed at the lot at Main and Center streets, which is across from Bechtel’s Pharmacy.

Stevens said the borough received a grant from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce to help with the cost of the project. It covered about a third of the cost, he said.

The two historic light poles with white lamps are similar to those on the bridge. They will be installed in Memorial Park within a couple weeks. The lights cost $1,600 each.

Council member Jason Ruff said three organizations donated to the borough for the purchase of the lights. He thanked Second Chance Shop for their donation of $500; Future Focus, $250; and Vigilant Fire Company, $250.
