Kathy Crampsie will not seek re-election as tax collector

Summit Hill Borough will have a new tax collector in 2022.

Kathleen R. Crampsie, the current tax collector, has announced she will not seek re-election in this year’s election, having decided to retire from the position.

Crampsie was elected to a four-year term of office in November 2017, and began her duties the following January, succeeding longtime Tax Collector Alice Kane, who retired after having served for over 35 years in the position.

“It was a difficult decision to make, because I really enjoyed being the tax collector,” Crampsie said. “But, we (she and her husband, Bob, who retired last January as the Carbon County Controller after a 28-year career) are at points in our lives where we really want to spend more time with our family and help our children with their children, and to do that would not allow me to put the time into the tax collector’s job that it requires.”

Crampsie said she is appreciative of the support she received upon assuming the job in 2018. “I’d like to thank the people of Summit Hill who supported me and accepted me in the position, especially after being the one to succeed Alice after her long and highly successful career.”
