The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported Thursday that there were 9,698 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 693,087.
There are 5,613 people hospitalized with COVID-19, near double the peak in the spring. Of that number, 1,120 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19.
As of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, there were 265 new deaths reported for a total of 17,179 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
• Carbon County reported 3,198 cases, an uptick of 113 since Wednesday. One more death was reported for a total of 95.
• Lehigh reported 22,433 cases, an increase of 418. Eight more deaths were reported for a running total of 536.
• Luzerne reported 18,654 cases, an increase of 276. Seven more deaths were reported for a total of 491.
• Monroe reported 6,736, an increase of 131. Three more deaths were reported for a total of 212.
• Northampton County reported 18,331 cases, an increase of 314. Nine more deaths were reported for a total of 469.
• Schuylkill reported 8,969, an increase of 161. A total of 261 deaths were reported, after three more Wednesday.
