Lower Towamensing retains leadership for new year

On Monday, the Lower Towamensing Township Board of Supervisors held a reorganization meeting at the municipal building for the new year.

Chairman Brent Green and Supervisor Connie Brown were present. Vice Chairman Jay Mullikin could not attend in person and instead attended via phone call.

Supervisor positions remained the same as 2020 with unanimous approval to appoint Brent Green as chairman, Jay Mullikin as vice chairman and Christine Wentz as secretary-treasurer.

A motion was also made and unanimously passed to appoint all nonelected township officials as well, including solicitor James Nanovic, zoning officer Duane Dellecker and sewage and well enforcement officer Scott Bieber.

Motions were made and unanimously passed to employ Mike Anthony for the township road foreman position as well as Brandon Gehringer for the assistant road foreman position.

Additionally, motions were made and unanimously passed to employ Gehringer, Anthony and Timothy George as full-time employees as well as Tim Strohl, Paul Strohl and Larry Hahn as part-time employees for the township.

Lastly, a motion was made and unanimously approved in order to change the supervisor monthly meeting dates. Before this year, the meetings took place every second Tuesday of the month.

The supervisors’ regular monthly meetings will now be held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the township meeting room at the municipal building.

The recreation board’s meetings will remain the same, occurring every first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the municipal building meeting room.
