NL to end school year with healthy fund balance

Northern Lehigh School District will end this school year with a healthy fund balance.

Sherri Molitoris, co-director of business affairs/human resources, said that as part of the local auditor report, last week the district received its final end of year numbers.

She said the district had originally projected using about $2 million in fund balance.

But Molitoris said $100,000 in additional revenues. The district renegotiated its transportation agreement, saved $185,000 on electric, $80,000 in fuel and diesel.

“Overall, the district fund balance took a hit of $162,000 last year, that’s it, and that is because of all of the changes that we had experienced as of March through the end of the year, plus the additional increase in revenues that we received,” she said.

The remainder in the fund balance will be $9.7 million.
