Exotic pet store and pet supply shop open in Palmerton
From animals to supplies, an exotic pet store and pet supply shop in Palmerton has it all.
Open since April, Wild Thingz, at 266 Delaware Ave., is owned by siblings Noah and Caleigh Condit.
Originally from Slatington, the brother-sister duo moved to Palmerton and also have other businesses in Carbon County.
“We love Palmerton; it’s a great little town,” Caleigh said. “We thought this would be the best place to start our little pet adventure.”
Caleigh said that as kids, they used to visit a local pet store, which served as an inspiration for them to open their own pet store.
“We wanted to do something very different,” Caleigh said. “We want to be able to share our love for pets.”
The pair stressed that their animals are very well taken care of.
“We want to share our love and passion for animals,” Noah said. “They deserve the best.”
Noah added that the business has “a little bit of something for everyone.”
That includes a wide range of exotic birds, such as macaws, cockatoos, conures, lorikeets, doves, cockatiels, finches, lovebirds, an African grey; small mammals, with everything from rats to hamsters to Guinea pigs to ferrets to chinchillas to rabbits; as well as different types of reptiles such as geckos, other lizards, snakes and tortoises; and amphibians, like frogs. In the future, the business plans to have fish.
Caleigh described what they hope their customers gain from visiting the shop.
“We hope that people consider coming to our shop to consider buying our pets, exotic pets, share the proper care that they should be getting, the proper equipment that should be used,” Caleigh said. “We’d like to share some of the best products on the market for their pets, what kind of fresh foods they should be having.”
Caleigh added that they also sell live feeders like rodents, live bugs, frozen rodents and frozen mammals.
“A lot of people have reptiles, snakes, amphibians, and they will require live feeders,” Caleigh said.
In addition, if customers are looking for certain products or animals, Caleigh said they are able to place special orders for them. She noted they also offer payment plans for their specialty animals.
