Pleasant Valley middle school has COVID case

The Pleasant Valley Middle School reported its first case of COVID-19.

Superintendent Lee Lesisko sent out an announcement to school families Wednesday afternoon alerting them to information. A support staff member tested positive for the virus, but has not been in the school since Friday. The school building has been deep cleaned as is part of the school district’s health and safety plan and taking all the necessary safety precautions, and have contacted the state Department of Health.

“All individuals who have been in close contact have been notified, and operations at the middle school will continue as normal,” he said. “We will continue transparent communication when there is a confirmed positive case of COVID-19.”

Since school opened in September, there has been a case of the virus reported in a student at the elementary school, a couple teachers and a custodian at the high school, and a student athlete.
