Northern Lehigh Rec and Penn State Extension to offer free nutrition classes

Penn State Extension, with support from Northern Lehigh Recreation Authority, is offering a series of free nutrition and food preparation group classes for families with limited resources. Classes will be held via Zoom from 4-5 p.m. on Mondays. Classes will begin Oct. 12 and run until Nov. 16.

These free classes are open to parents or caregivers of a child age 19 and under, adults and older adults who qualify for free or reduced school lunch, WIC, SNAP benefits, food pantry boxes/bags and Pennsylvania Farmers Market Vouchers.

Participants will learn to save money on food, plan and cook tasty meals, the importance of family meals, and how to introduce new foods. Kids will learn to cook and to plan tasty snacks. Classes will be taught by Julie Davitt, Penn State Nutrition Education Advisor.
