State police at Schuylkill Haven - crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported on Sept. 5 at 12:09 a.m. along Route 183 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said James D. Lindenmuth, 49, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2019 Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycle westbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. The bike struck the deer causing the bike to overturn and come to final rest along the berm.

Lindenmuth sustained a suspected minor injury and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East-Pottsville.

• Another one-vehicle crash was reported on Sept. 6 at 1 a.m. along Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township. Bernaldo Santiago, 46, of Tobyhanna, Monroe County, was driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla northbound in the right lane when the right rear tire deflated, causing Santiago to lose control. The vehicle crossed into the left lane and onto the berm, then down an embankment where it came to rest on its roof.

Santiago was not injured.

• On Sept. 7 at 2:54 a.m. Austin R. Spitler, 24, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee westbound on Schuylkill Mountain Road in South Manheim Township, when he said he had mechanical issues. The vehicle went onto the berm after Spitler negotiated a curve. The vehicle then began to slide, flipped onto its roof and slid off the road into trees along the berm.

Spitler was not injured. He was cited for the crash.

• A crash was reported on Aug. 29 at 3:21 a.m. along Hidden Valley Road in Wayne Township. Troopers said a 17-year-old male from Orwigsburg, was operating a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero eastbound and driving at a speed too fast for conditions. The vehicle crossed over the opposing lane of travel and onto the berm where it struck an embankment and fence and came to rest.

The teen was suspected for DUI and taken to LVH-East for a blood draw. Charges are pending test results.
