Weissport looking to solve code enforcement issue

Weissport’s list of possible code enforcement violations are ever-growing

Council sought out enforcement earlier this month but was informed that the borough’s former code enforcer Tracy Herman had no longer held that role.

Herman’s previous superior, code enforcement officer Paul Jared, will be stepping in to fulfill her obligations, at least temporarily for the borough.

Help the neighborhood

Sam Carey from the Hope Community Fellowship Church told council that he, along with a few others who’ve signed up, plan on holding their previously scheduled “Help Your Neighborhood Day” on Aug. 15.

Carey said the volunteers are willing to be available that day and asked the board to consider how those involved could be of service.

As it turns out, there are many various odd jobs in the borough in which volunteers could lend a helping hand.

The fate of the anticipated church sponsored “Movie Night in the Park” is to be decided at a later time. “With all the health stuff going on, would people come out to see it?” Carey asked.

In accordance with following the changing guidelines issued by Gov. Tom Wolf, any social event is hard to host.

“If and when we decide to have it, we’ll advertise locally,” he added.
