KidsPeace resident starts fight

A resident of the KidsPeace facility for juveniles, in North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, is facing charges following an incident that occurred at 6:24 a.m. Saturday.

State police at Bethlehem said the suspect engaged in a fight in the Edison House. He was able to leave the house, climb onto the roof of the neighboring Revere House, make entry through some paneling located on the roof where he then kicked in paneling located in the ceiling, re-entered the facility, and jump down onto KidsPeace residents/staffing.

A large fight began. One KidsPeace staff member was injured after she was pushed by the suspect. The victim, a 55-year-old woman from Schuylkill Haven, hit her head on the corner of a bed post, knocking her unconscious. The suspect then pushed, shoved and punched the director before being able to break free of the facility and escape.

KidsPeace security, personnel and five state troopers conducted a search for the suspect. He was located walking back onto KidsPeace property and taken into custody. The injured staff member was transported for a nearby hospital for treatment, troopers said.
