Carbon County Strong shirts to help businesses

Carbon County plans to launch the sale of its own T-shirt to support local businesses during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corp, in partnership with the Main Street Lehigh Valley Foundation, has partnered with two local businesses to launch the sale of a Carbon County Strong T-shirt.

Colossal Radio in Lehighton, and Frontline Graphix in Jim Thorpe, have agreed to partner with the chamber and foundation.

“As a lifelong resident and current business owner in Carbon County, we want to do our part and give back to small business with the sale of the shirts,” said Joe Kehrli, owner of Frontline Graphix. “We want to encourage people to shop local and support local business. Together we are strong.”

Layne Doc Roberts, radio host of The Endless Party Radio Show and owner of Colossal Radio echoed Kehrli’s sentiment.

“We can accomplish great things together,” Roberts said. “No better time than now to truly make (a) difference, to support each other always and we will with this mission … together.”

The T-shirts are heather gray, and feature an outline of Carbon County, with the words “Carbon County Strong Support Local” across the front.

Shirt sizes range from small to 3XL, and can be purchased for $20 on the CCEDC website at carboncountychamber.org.

The partners are encouraging everyone who purchases a shirt to engage in an online campaign by posting photos of themselves in the shirts and using two hashtags #CarbonCountyStrong and #WeGiveAShirtCarbonCounty.

“During this time of no foot traffic and a lot of unknowns, we are here to support our small businesses,” said Marlyn Kissner, Executive Director of the CCEDC. “While businesses are navigating this difficult situation, we want them to know that we are here for them and looking forward to getting through this together.”

T-shirts will be able to be picked up at 137 South St. in Lehighton beginning Monday by appointment only.
