NL school board

Northern Lehigh School Board streamed its meeting on Tuesday and took the following action:

Personnel

• Accepted the retirement of Janet Hofelich, Peters Elementary second-grade teacher, effective the end of the 2019-20 school year. Hofelich will retire from the district with 27 years of service.

• Accepted the retirement of Patricia Jones, high school health and physical education teacher, effective the end of the 2019-20 school year. Jones will retire from the district with 33 years of service.

• Appointed Kirk Henritzy as substitute cafeteria worker for the 2019-20 school year at the 2019-20 substitute rate.

Curriculum and instruction

• Approved a resolution to adopt the 2020-21 Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit Facilities Plan Committee Report that was approved by the CLIU Facilities Plan Committee March 4, and the CLIU 21 board of directors March 16.

• Agreed to execute an agreement between the district and Grand Canyon University for a teacher preparation program. The program allows students at Grand Canyon University to student teach in the district in order for them to complete their practicum hours needed for graduation. This agreement will terminate June 30, 2022.

Other

• Approved the resolution supporting Charter School Funding Reform.

• Approved an expulsion hearing waiver for a student. The student and guardian have agreed to waive their right to a formal expulsion hearing in front of the school board and have also agreed to disciplinary action outlined in the waiver.
