State police at Hazleton report on Carbon incidents

State police at Hazleton reported the following incidents:

• Two Carbon County neighbors were cited following a dispute. Troopers were dispatched to a reported neighbors’ dispute along Hudson Drive in Packer Township, at 5:02 p.m. March 13.

Troopers said each party involved told troopers there was an argument and that threats were made to physically harm each other.

As a result Christopher Hoffman, 28, and Raymond Pillonato, 56, were both cited for harassment. Charges were filed.

• A Monroe County man has been charged with trespassing at a state police barracks.

State police at Hazleton said Jeremiah Thomas, 42, of Saylorsburg, was observed walking in the rear parking lot of the barracks at 7:04 a.m. March 11. Troopers said the area is signed prohibiting entry to unauthorized personnel. He was charged with criminal trespass.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 3:07 a.m. on March 14 along Wetzel Run Drive in Packer Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Jake A. Stover, 21, of Weatherly, was driving a 2015 Honda Civic southbound at unsafe speeds when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road. The vehicle went off the road and hit a small embankment, went airborne and hit a tree where it came to rest.

Stover and his passenger, Bret A. Stover, 24, also of Weatherly, suffered injuries and were transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton Campus, by Mahoning Valley ambulance. The car was towed.

Troopers cited Stover for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• A crash was reported at 7:12 a.m. on March 10 along Route 924 in Hazle Township, Luzerne County. Troopers said Matthew S. Smith, 45, of Pottsville, was driving a 2015 Mack truck and was turning left from Interstate 81 north off-ramp onto 924. He failed to negotiate the turn causing the truck to leave the road and go onto the shoulder where the front passenger bumper hit the guide rail. The truck came to rest at that point.

Smith was not injured. The truck had to be towed. Smith was cited for the crash.

• The theft of a camper from a Carbon County site is being investigated.

State police at Hazleton said a 47-year-old man from Tresckow reported on March 4 that a camper he had parked off the area of 900 Packer Drive, in Packer Township, was missing. The theft occurred sometime between Feb. 5 and March 4. The location was in an open field off the westbound shoulder of Packer Drive, near the wood line.

The stolen camper was described as a 1995 Hornet, 24-foot, tow along, white in color with green stripes. The rear wheels are black with diamond plate rear fender flares. A Lake Erie sticker may be on the rear window.

• Troopers responded to a residence along East Broad Street in Hazle Township at 8:28 p.m. on March 6. Upon investigating the incident troopers said George Cardenas, 62, of Beaver Meadows, was charged with harassment - physical contact, after he shoved a 52-year-old woman, of that address, during an argument.
