Free nutrition links classes to be offered

Penn State Extension, with support from Northern Lehigh Recreation Authority and Vigilant Fire Co. is offering a series of free nutrition and food preparation group classes for families with limited resources.

Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. at Vigilant Fire Hall, 110 S. Walnut St. in Slatington. Classes will begin March 26 and run until April 30.

Classes are open to parents or caregivers of a child age 19 and under, adults and older adults who qualify for free or reduced school lunch, WIC, SNAP benefits, food pantry boxes/bags and Pennsylvania Farmers Market Vouchers.

Participants will learn to save money on food, plan and cook tasty meals, the importance of family meals, and how to introduce new foods. Kids will learn to cook and how to plan tasty snacks.
