Members of the Tamaqua High School Class of 1959 celebrated their 60-year reunion on Aug. 17 at Capriotti’s. Music was provided by “It Takes Two.” Welcome was given by class president Louis Sozio. Chloe (Andrukitis) Gayda offered an invocation followed by a toast to the class by James Boyle. Tribute was paid with a candle lighting ceremony and a moment of silence to remember the 15 classmates who died since the last reunion: Karl Pfeil, John Daukshus, Frank Mikruk, Edward Blonsky, Paul Kitchen, William Kubulis, Gary Clemson, Joan (Lutz) Clemens, Robert Deifenderfer, Michael Katulka, Monroe Schock, Rose (Miller) Smith, Helen Jewells, Edward Zupko and Dale Herb. Members of the reunion committee were Chloe (Andrukitis) Gayda, Frances (Epler) Zukovich and John Miller. The class plans to have a picnic in 2020.
