A Carbon County driver is facing a driving under the influence charge in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said a 49-year-old man from Lansford, who they declined to identify, was found in his vehicle parked and facing the wrong direction on the off ramp of Exit 131 of Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township, about 7:15 p.m. on Sunday. He showed signs of impairment.

Troopers added that the suspect requested medical attention after injuring himself attempting to drive his vehicle off the road and into an embankment area. He was taken to a Pottsville hospital. Police said he will be charged.
