NCC to hold ‘Suicide Prevention: One-Man Show

Northampton Community College will offer a three-part event on suicide prevention Feb. 19, at the Bethlehem and Monroe campuses.

It will be held at the Lipkin Theatre, Kopecek Hall, Bethlehem Campus, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and at the Monroe Campus, Room 108, Pocono Hall, in Tannersville from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

The three-part event will be facilitated by Josh Rivedal, international speaker, author, playwright, educator and arts entrepreneur. In the first part, a 15-character off-Broadway play based on Rivedal’s father’s suicide will be performed. This will be followed by an educational session about Rivedal’s own struggle with depression, suicidal thoughts, a review of local and national helping resources, an outline of warning signs and Rivedal’s recovery.

The program will conclude with a question-and-answer period.
