Dear Editor:

When our local legislators announce various grants to municipalities or fire companies, do they actually pay that money from their own pockets?

That’s the impression I get from the press releases. It seems as if they want us to be grateful to them for giving what I had always assumed was our money paid through our taxes.

Maybe I have been wrong about this. Maybe our state representatives are actually forking over their own personal funds. Would someone please enlighten me about this?
