Frackville state police

State police at Frackville reported on the following incidents:

• State police said Janine Keff, 32, of Mahanoy City, and Robert Wagner, 33, of Shenandoah, got into a verbal argument at 9:18 p.m. Saturday at the Unity Cafe on East Centre Street in Shenandoah. The argument escalated and led to physical contact in which both parties shoved and spat on each other. Both received non-traffic citations for harassment, troopers said.

• A Texas driver escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash along Interstate 81 in West Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County, at 2:16 a.m. on Monday. State police said Steven L. Pinczuk, 36, of Beaumont, was driving a 2014 Hyundai Elantra southbound when his vehicle got a flat tire causing him to lose control. The Elantra went onto the east berm and struck a tree in the median head-on. Pinczuk was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed. Pinczuk was cited for the crash.

• A vehicle was destroyed by fire along Interstate 81 in Butler Township, Schuylkill County, on Sunday. State police said Robin J. Sweigert, of Frackville, was driving a 2012 Dodge Avenger sedan southbound around 3:30 p.m. when it caught fire. Sweigert escaped injury but the vehicle was destroyed. Responding to extinguish the flames were volunteers from the Altamont Fire Company, Friendship Fire Company and Good Will Hose Company, all of Frackville.

• Kelly Williams, 48, of Tremont, was charged for an incident on June 22 at 8:18 p.m. at the Turkey Hill, at 1565 Bunting St., Norwegian Township. Troopers said Williams went behind the service counter and removed a pack of cigarettes when the employee stepped away. She placed the cigarettes in her purse and failed to pay for them. Value of the cigarettes were $7.39.

• Jesse Masscotte, 29, of Minersville, was arrested on June 28 at 5:45 p.m. at Kohl’s Department Store in the Fairlane Village Mall, in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Masscotte hid a bottle of Versace cologne on himself and failed to pay for the merchandise. Value of the item was $71.02.

• A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at 12:03 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Route 54 and South Main Street in Shenandoah. Troopers said William J. Pesavage, 50, of Shenandoah, was driving a 2002 Ford F150 pickup truck and attempting a left turn onto Route 54 from Main Street when he failed to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk. The driver’s side of the truck struck the pedestrian, identified as Margaret K. Mensick, 67, of Shenandoah, knocking her to the ground. The truck then ran over her left arm. Mensick refused medical treatment at the scene. Pesavage was cited.
