Lehighton woman gets state prison term for drug dealing

A Carbon County woman was sentenced to a state prison term on Tuesday on drug dealing charges.

Rebekah Joy Shubrick, 26, of Lehighton, was sentenced by Judge Steven R. Serfass to serve a total of 18 to 36 months in a state correctional institution on charges of criminal use of a communication facility; possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, heroin; and possession of a controlled substance, heroin.She was arrested on the first count on Nov. 14, 2016, after she sold heroin to a confidential informant working the vice unit of the state police at Hazleton.The sale was made along White Street in Weissport.The possession with intent count occurred on April 26, 2016, when she sold to a CI working for the state Attorney General's office.The sale occurred along Route 248 at Palmerton. She was arrested a short time later following a vehicle stop.A brick of heroin and 50 baggies of the drug were found.The possession count was for an incident on March 25, 2016, in the area of Christman's Field, filed by Franklin Township police. Heroin was again involved.Shubrick admitted to an addiction problem and entered the Salvation Army's inpatient program twice, but failed both times.She has been in prison since her last arrest.In addition to the prison term, Serfass ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, pay court costs of about $1,000 and supply a DNA sample.She was given credit for 436 days spent in prison on the charges.
