A Carbon County man was rewarded on Monday in Carbon County court for his dedication to beat a drug addiction problem.

Brian Patrick Kenny, 38, of Harrisburg, and formerly of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced by Judge Steven R. Serfass to time-served, 199 days, to one day less 24 months in prison on charges of criminal trespass and theft. The 199 days is the time he spent in the inpatient rehabilitation program run by the Salvation Army in Harrisburg.Kenny said his time in the program has turned his life around.He said he would recommend the program to anyone suffering with drug addiction. He added, "It is an everyday struggle" to stay clean. Kenny said he has secured full-time employment in the Harrisburg area.Serfass said the Salvation Army program is considered one of the best.He told Kenny, "I'm sure this is a constant struggle for you on a daily basis."Serfass also ordered Kenny to supply a DNA sample, get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a fine of $1,800, pay a $50 month supervision fee while on parole and render 250 hours of community service.Probation termA Bethlehem woman was placed on probation after previously pleading guilty to one count of harassment.Jane L. Fraser, 57, will serve one year of probation on the charge which stems from an incident on Dec. 29, 2016. Fraser admitted making harassing phone calls to a borough female. In a plea bargain, a second count of harassment involving the same victim was dropped.Serfass also ordered her to render 50 hours of community service, continue her current mental health counseling, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation and have no contact with the victim.
